South Texas College Unveils Free Cybersecurity Clinic for Small Businesses

The South Texas College Cybersecurity program has announced an exciting initiative aimed at enhancing the security of small businesses in the region. Recently, the program secured a substantial $467,000 Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant from the National Science Foundation. This funding will be utilized to establish the Rio Grande Valley’s inaugural Cybersecurity Clinic.

The clinic is designed to provide essential cybersecurity resources and support to local small businesses, which often lack the necessary tools and expertise to protect themselves against cyber threats. By offering free consultations and services, the clinic aims to bolster the cybersecurity posture of these businesses, helping them safeguard sensitive information and maintain customer trust.

This initiative comes at a critical time, as cyberattacks continue to rise, posing significant risks to small enterprises. The Cybersecurity Clinic will not only serve as a valuable resource for local businesses but also as a training ground for students pursuing careers in cybersecurity, fostering a new generation of skilled professionals in the field.
