CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Cheyenne City Council has taken a step forward on a proposal to bring a 34-acre parcel into the city limits, a move that would eventually expand the North Range Business Park. The ordinance cleared its first committee hurdle, advancing now to a second review before a final vote can be considered.
The land in question sits just outside the current city boundary. If annexed, it would be folded into the existing business park, opening up more space for commercial and industrial development. City planners have pointed to the need for additional lots to attract new employers and support existing businesses looking to grow.
Council members on the first committee did not raise major objections, though some asked about infrastructure costs and the timeline for bringing utilities to the site. Staff assured them that the annexation process includes a detailed plan for roads, water, and sewer connections. The developer backing the proposal has indicated a willingness to cover a portion of those expenses.
The next committee meeting is expected to dig deeper into the fiscal impact and zoning details. If the ordinance passes that stage, it will head to the full council for a public hearing and final decision. Supporters see the expansion as a logical next step for the business park, which has become a key hub for logistics and light manufacturing in the region. Opponents have not yet organized, but some nearby residents have voiced concerns about increased truck traffic and noise.
