BIDDEFORD, Maine -- A familiar face that greeted customers at a local pizza shop for decades has passed away. The man known as the heart and soul of Bill's Pizza died unexpectedly last week, leaving a void in the community he served with a warm smile and a steady hand.
For over 30 years, the manager was more than just an employee; he was the living embodiment of the family-run business. Regulars knew him by name, and he knew their orders by heart. Whether it was a busy Friday night or a quiet weekday lunch, he was there, often working the register, tossing dough, or checking on tables. His dedication turned a simple pizza place into a neighborhood landmark.
"He was the face of the business," said a longtime customer who stopped by to pay respects. "You didn't go to Bill's just for the pizza. You went to see him. He made you feel like family."
Colleagues described him as a tireless worker who never sought the spotlight but always ensured the shop ran smoothly. His passing has left the staff in shock. The owner of the restaurant confirmed the news but declined to comment further, citing the family's request for privacy during this difficult time.
A small memorial has been set up near the entrance of the shop, where friends and patrons have left flowers and handwritten notes. The pizza shop remains open, but those who knew the manager say it will never quite feel the same without his presence behind the counter.
