Concrete truck overturns, crashes into Dallas business, authorities say

Emergency crews spent the morning assessing the damage after a concrete truck flipped over and plowed into a commercial building on West Northwest Highway. The crash happened just before 9 a.m., according to Dallas Fire-Rescue, and left a significant portion of the structure unstable.

The driver was the only person injured in the incident. Officials said he was alert and talking when medics arrived, and he was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No customers or employees inside the business were hurt, which authorities described as lucky given the force of the impact.

Photos from the scene show the massive truck lying on its side, its cab wedged into the front of the building. The force of the crash shattered windows and pushed part of the wall inward. A city building inspector was called in to determine whether the structure was safe to enter or if it needed to be shored up before any cleanup could begin.

The cause of the overturn is still under investigation. Dallas police said speed does not appear to be a factor, but they are looking into whether a mechanical issue or a driver error played a role. The road was closed in both directions for several hours while crews worked to remove the truck and clear debris. Traffic was diverted onto side streets, causing delays for the morning commute.

The business itself will remain closed until further notice while engineers complete a full safety review. No timeline has been given for when the building might reopen.
