A man is in custody after police say he broke several windows and forced his way into a business along Matamoros Street in downtown Laredo. The Laredo Police Department reported that officers responded to a disturbance call early in the morning. When they arrived, they found a suspect who had allegedly shattered the glass storefront of a local establishment.
Witnesses on the scene pointed officers to the individual, who was still near the building. Police said the man appeared agitated and resisted initial attempts to speak with him. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take him into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported among the officers or bystanders.
The suspect now faces charges related to criminal mischief and burglary of a building. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage to the property. The business was closed at the time of the incident, and no employees or customers were inside. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released the name of the suspect pending formal arraignment.
