WATSONVILLE -- A new short documentary film tells the story of Antonia Vega González, the owner of Dulce Organic Farms in Watsonville. The film was produced by Pedro González Rentería, a contributor to Noticias Watsonville. Antonia's journey is one of hard work and determination. She started as a fieldworker, picking crops under the hot Central Coast sun. Over time, she saved money, learned the business, and eventually bought her own land. Today, she runs a successful organic farm that supplies fresh produce to local markets and restaurants. The documentary highlights not just her business success, but also the challenges she faced as a woman and an immigrant in agriculture. It shows how she built a life from the ground up, literally. The film aims to inspire others who dream of moving from labor to ownership. It also sheds light on the often unseen stories of farmworkers who become entrepreneurs. For Antonia, Dulce Organic Farms is more than a business. It is a legacy for her family and a symbol of what is possible with perseverance.
