Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum is not shying away from the noise. With the 2026 WNBA trade deadline approaching, speculation has grown that she could be dealt before the season's end. Reports surfaced last week suggesting Plum plans to test free agency in 2027 and has no intention of re-signing with the Sparks. Now, she is addressing the situation directly.
"It's business," Plum said after the All-Star break. "I understand how this league works. You can't take any of it personally. My job is to play hard every night, whether that is here or somewhere else. I have control over my effort, not over what front offices decide."
The former All-Star has been a steady presence for Los Angeles since arriving in a blockbuster trade. But with her contract expiring next offseason, the Sparks face a tough choice: trade her now for assets or risk losing her for nothing later. Plum acknowledged the uncertainty but made it clear she is focused on the present.
"I love my teammates. I love competing. The rumors are out of my hands," she added. "I am not going to waste energy worrying about things I cannot control. When I step on the court, I am all in."
League insiders believe the Sparks are listening to offers, though no deal appears imminent. Plum, for her part, seems at peace with whatever comes next. "I have been in this league long enough to know that change is part of it," she said. "You just roll with it."
